Robert Lipka, Principal
A licensed Architect for more than ten years, Robert’s earliest memories began as a boy building clubhouses out of left over material from his stepfather’s renovation business. He continued to sketch and build into his college years where he graduated with an Associates Degree in Architecture from Ferris State College. Robert received his Bachelor in Science in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University while working for a local planning and landscape architecture firm. During his studies at Clemson University for his Master’s Degree in Architecture, Robert had the opportunity to travel in Europe. The experience was life changing and instilled in him a sense of place and appreciation for history and people. He founded RLA with a mission, “to create places where people matter.” Robert’s strong understanding of proportion in design and its direct relationship to a strong aesthetic combined with a background in construction give him a unique understanding of how things go together. He believes every strong design solution is met with the ability to be constructed. The same boyhood instincts drive Robert to spend time creating both in the office and in his workshop.

Chad Asman, Project Manager
Chad has a Bachelor in Science in Architecture and a Masters in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University. Integrity was instilled as a boy, living in an environment... where his parents were owners of a flooring business. Construction can be impersonal; Chad learned from his parents the importance of having a passion for people and the success derived from hard work. Beginning in grade school Chad drew houses; that talent entered high school through design competitions and carried into college as a participant in honor exhibitions. Totally immersed in design, Chad is deeply rooted in the concept of working hard to achieve great results. Chad joined RLA as a design student and quickly realized his similarities of passion and drive in Robert. Robert became his mentor, his friend and soon, his partner. Trust is the foundation for Chad’s client relations. He combines experience in the field with a pragmatic design sense balanced between creativity and function providing clients with a product exceeding their expectations. He believes the design solution lies somewhere between a project’s reality, (budget, site, use) and the client’s vision (how they want to live or work). As a staff member of Kensington Community Church, Chad ministers to students with the same creativity and work ethic he displays at RLA.
